Erin Silva, M.A., is assistant director of distance learning and continuing education in the department of Distance Learning and Continuing Education at Erikson Institute. In this role, she provides project management guidance, including product development, timelines, deliverables, and program evaluation, for all department projects to enhance courses, online learning and continuing education programs at Erikson Institute. Coming to Chicago from Winston-Salem, NC, Erin received her Master’s degree in Communication from Wake Forest University. Here she gained an appreciation for theory and research and became passionate about the effective use of technology in the classroom. Her research has focused on teacher motivations for technology use in the classroom with a lens on Universal Design for Learning and Anthropomorphism. Additionally, she has studied parental beliefs about childhood media use, play, and education and comparing preschool-directed media to play and education.

Erin earned her BA in Media Arts and Entertainment with a concentration in Broadcast and New Media as well as a minor in Business Administration at Elon University. Having worked in the production, non-profit, and technology industries, Erin is excited to work with the department of Distance Learning and Continuing Education to promote, create, and support lifelong learning.
