Shelley Levin, M.Ed. ’77, is an accomplished early childhood educator with more than 30 years of experience in the field.
As director of career services, she advises students, coordinates internship placements, and provides career guidance to Erikson’s students and alumni. She oversees student academic support, including the Academic Success Center and the Kathy and Grant Pick Writing Program. Levin also manages the Administration track of Erikson’s M.S. in Child Development and teaches in the program.
Levin has been an early childhood faculty member at Columbia College, Harper College, Oakton College, and Prairie State College. In addition, she has directed early childhood programs, including demonstration centers, served as a professional development advisor (PDA) for Illinois Gateways, consulted to numerous agencies and programs, and worked in child care licensing.
Levin is an Erikson graduate and holds a doctorate in college leadership from National-Louis University. Some of her professional achievements include serving as the founding coordinator of an NAEYC Special Interest Group, a board member and founding commission co-chair of Chicago Metro AEYC, and a presenter and member of conference planning committees for the National Coalition of Campus Child Care Centers, Generations United (GU), and the International Consortium for Intergenerational Programmes (ICIP).
She has also reviewed grants for the U.S. Department of Education/Office of Higher Education and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
