Accreditation
Erikson Institute is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the
North Central Association based in Chicago.
Accreditation is limited to the
master’s of science degrees in child development and early childhood education, and our three
certificate programs .
Erikson’s
master’s degree in early childhood education leading to Type 04 certification is accredited and approved by the Illinois State Board of Education.
The
bilingual education/English as a second sanguage certificate program is approved by the Illinois State Board of Education’s Division of Professional Certification.
Affiliations
Erikson Institute promotes and maintains relationships with various other institutions of higher education in order to establish new programs, increase resources available to students, and strengthen teaching and learning in the field of early childhood development.
Loyola University Chicago
Erikson Institute is affiliated academically with
Loyola University Chicago to grant the doctorate of philosophy degree in early childhood and the dual M.S./M.S.W. degree.
Four College Consortium
The Four College Consortium on Early Childhood Education is a unique collaborative that represents a strong national voice and resource for reform in teacher education. The consortium consists of Erikson Institute,
Bank Street College in New York City,
Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena, and
Wheelock College in Boston.
The study of child development and the developmental approach to learning has been, and continues to be, a connecting link among the institutions in their work with children and their approach to adult learning.
The consortium’s goals are to provide national leadership to the field of early childhood education by conducting research on aspects of child and family development; to formulate policy related to children and families; to promote policies, programs, and research that benefit young children; and to address the ongoing concerns of professionals in the field.
