More than 1,400 early childhood professionals have earned
master’s degrees
or certificates at Erikson.
Nearly 2,500 practitioners sharpen their skills in our
certificate
and
professional development
programs each year. They serve almost 60,000 children in Illinois alone.
Erikson staff members assess every child under the age of five that enters the
foster care system
in Cook County, and conduct detailed interviews with the significant adult caregivers in the child’s life: biological and foster parents and their partners. These evaluations and interviews are used to determine the child’s treatment, placement, and future legal status.
At least 9,000 four– and five-year-olds in the Chicago Public Schools will benefit from better math lessons as their teachers participate in Erikson’s
Early Mathematics Education Project
over the next three years.
More than 3,000 families with infants who have crying, feeding, or sleeping problems have been helped by our
Fussy Baby Network
since 2003, and the network’s model of service and intervention has been replicated in five states, at six different sites.
Our
dual degree
interns—earning both a master’s in child development and an M.S.W. from Loyola University—work in agencies that annually serve more than 20,000 children and families.
Our first off-site master’s program in DuPage County is creating a cadre of certified state pre-K teachers who work with more than 400 at-risk children each year in the Western suburbs.
Twelve CPS schools serving at least 3,500 children in pre-K through grade 3 receive extensive coaching and professional development through our
New Schools Project.
Two more schools are set to join the project.
Erikson’s
Herr Research Center for Children and Social Policy
provides valuable research on early childhood issues to policymakers and funders in the Great Lakes region and beyond.
We hold a one-of-a-kind contract from the Illinois State Board of Education to provide
mental health consultation
to all 1,300 prekindergarten programs in the state.
