Erikson Institute is committed to safeguarding private information from our web site visitors. This statement describes how we collect and safeguard information about you when you visit www.erikson.edu.

Information collected automatically
Our site captures certain common technical information automatically. This includes your Internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and computer operating system, time and date you visit, the pages you access, and the address of the page that directed you to our site

This data does not include any personally identifiable information. We use this data to understand patterns of site activity and to improve the site so it is more useful for you.

Personal Information
We do not collect personally identifiable information from you unless you supply it voluntarily. We request this data only when necessary to provide a service or complete a transaction. Examples include subscribing to electronic newsletters or mailing lists; completing online surveys; requesting program information, or registering and paying for events or courses.

It is also possible that parties who provide hosting services or other day-to-day services necessary to the operation of Erikson.edu may have access to information that you provide to the extent they require access to our databases to service Erikson and Erikson.edu.

Protecting information
We will not sell, share, or release personally identifiable information to third parties without your permission. We will only release personal information when we believe it is necessary to comply with the law.

Although we cannot guarantee impenetrability of our servers, we have established reasonable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard information we collect online and store offline from unauthorized access or disclosure. 

Student and alumni information
Erikson complies with the standards of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Aside from directory information that may be disclosed without prior notification, we will not post personally identifiable information about students or graduates without prior permission. Students who wish to withhold the inclusion of some or all information in Erikson directories should notify the Student REcords office by Oct. 1 of the academic year concerned.

Personal and professional contact information for alumni is collected through various methods and is published online in a searchable, password-protected alumni directory. We restrict directory access to alumni and persons connected to the Erikson community and use all appropriate technology to prevent misuse of the data by unauthorized parties. Alumni can request that their contact information be withheld from the directory by request.

Links to other sites
This policy applies only to www.erikson.edu. Related Erikson sites such as our portal at my.erikson.edu collect different types of information and may have specific policies and procedures for securing information. Our site also contains links to web sites outside of our domain. We are not responsible for the content or policies of such sites and recommend that you check privacy policies posted there.
