New Student Program Reception — Early September (3 receptions)
- Dual Degree – Thursday, September 8, 2011 – 6:00 – 7:30 p.m.
- Child Development w no specialization/Teacher Certification – Saturday, September 10, 2011 – 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Administration, Child Life and Infancy Specialization – Saturday, September 10, 2011 – 12:30 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The Program Receptions provide opportunities for students in respective programs to meet each other, followed by an alumni presentation.
Multicultural Student Affairs Breakfast Connection — October 8, 2011
The Breakfast Connection brings students of color, LGBTQ and international students together to build relationships and talk about activities and student support. This event allows students to connect across cohorts and also with alumni, continuing students, and faculty. A hearty breakfast is served!
Taste of Erikson — December 10, 2011
The Taste of Erikson is a cultural eating experience! Students, faculty, and staff bring a dish from their culture and the feast begins. In addition to the good food, there are also fun and games. This is an end of the fall semester event enjoyed by all.
Safe Zone Training — Fall and Spring
- Safe Zone 101: October 15, 2011 (Fall Session) – 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- Safe Zone 201: February 18, 2012 (Spring Session) – 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The office of Multicultural Student Affairs and the Dean of Faculty sponsor Safe Zone training sessions in the fall and the spring.
Safe Zone training is designed to increase knowledge, practice, and action when working with the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ) communities. This training helps the Erikson community work more effectively with students, staff and faculty within the LGBTQ community.
Specifically, the objectives for these sessions are the following:
- Provide factual information and correct misinformation on the topics of sexual and gender identity;
- Recognize problems in society that affect LGBTQ individuals;
- Identify policies and laws relevant to LGBTQ concerns;
- Identify and discuss strategies to reduce hostility toward LGBTQ persons;
- Acquire skills and information for making appropriate referrals;
- Raise awareness of the negative impact of homophobia, transphobia and heterosexism on all people; and
- Understand terminology on the subject of sexual and gender identity.

Family Game Night

Family Game Night is for the entire Erikson community. Students, faculty, and staff and
their families are invited to an evening full of food and games for all ages.
October Volunteer Event
October 1, 2011
Erikson's Student Committee volunteers at Open Streets on State Street. Erikson students and alumni help at the Imagination Playground and Kidz Zone.

Screening of American Teacher
Thursday, January 12, 2012, 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Weaving interviews of policy experts and startling facts with the lives and careers of four teachers, American Teacher tells the collective story by and about those closest to the issues in our educational system — the 3.2 million teachers who spend every day in classrooms across the country.
A panel discussion moderated by Prof. Aisha Ray follows the screening.
