Research and community engagement projects
IECMHC Project goals
1. To expand the provision of infant and early childhood mental health consultation to programs serving children, prenatal to age five and their families.

2. To develop, utilize, and evaluate, in collaboration with the programs, a comprehensive assessment process of the programs’ strengths and areas of potential growth.

3. To increase the capacity of programs to provide services and make appropriate referrals for children, prenatal to age five and their families.

4. To continue the process of developing and sustaining a well-trained, diverse workforce of infant and early childhood mental health consultants statewide.

5. To increase infant and early childhood programs’ readiness for IECMHC.

6. To contribute to research related to evidence based IECMHC practice.

7. To strengthen the competencies of professionals and paraprofessionals in early care and education and family support programs in the area of social and emotional development.

8. To collaborate with other state of Illinois efforts in order to develop competencies for infant and early childhood mental health consultants.

9. To build community ownership of the social and emotional development of young children.
