New name. Same commitment to effective early math.
The Early Mathematics Education Project is now the Early Math Collaborative. Why the change?
Improving math instruction for young children
The Early Math Collaborative at Erikson Institute helps preschool and early elementary teachers bring effective early math instruction into their classrooms. Our approach
Math is all around us, and we use it every day — yet it’s seldom taught well in the early grades, where it really counts.
Too many early childhood teachers don’t realize young children are ready, even eager, to learn core mathematical concepts. Worse, they aren’t prepared to teach these concepts.
Our research-based professional development services are helping young children close the mathematics achievement gap. Our services
The Early Math Collaborative is making a difference. Our research shows that children in the classrooms of teachers in the Collaborative learned almost three additional months more about math during the school year than children whose teachers did not participate.
Our approach — and our success — was recognized with a prestigious five-year Investing in Innovation (i3) grant by the U.S. Department of Education.
