Master’s degree and certificate programs
All applicants will be interviewed and selected for admission on the basis of the following criteria:
- Prior academic performance
Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education with a minimum grade point average of 2.75 on a 4-point scale. - At least one year of practical experience, or equivalent, with young children (birth to eight years old) in a supervised setting
Applicants to the online M.S. in early childhood education are expected to have a minimum of two years of full-time post-baccalaureate experience in an early childhood setting. - Demonstrated suitability for the field

- Completed application, including essays and work history
Applicants to the M.S./M.S.W. dual degree program must also submit application materials to Loyola University Chicago. Visit Loyola’s dual degree programs for details. - Completed applicant self-disclosure form
- Nonrefundable application fee ($50 for degree programs; $40 for certificate programs)
- Official sealed transcripts of all previous college and university work
Transcripts must be sent directly to Erikson from each college or university. Transcripts issued to students cannot be accepted. - Three letters of recommendation
- International applicants must meet additional requirements
Doctoral program
Applications will be reviewed, and selected applicants will be invited to interview with a member of the doctoral admission committee on the basis of the following criteria:
- Prior academic performance
Applicants must have a master’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a field related to child development (e.g., education, sociology, psychology, social work) with a minimum grade point of 3.0 on a 4-point scale. - Acceptable performance on the Graduate Record Examination (general test)
- Evidence of intellectual curiosity

- Non-refundable $50 application fee

- A research paper or academic writing sample
