T408 – Foundations of American Schooling and Bilingual Education
3 Credit Hours
This course explores the historical, political, and legal
foundations of early childhood and early elementary public
education in U.S. schools, including the foundations of
bilingual, English as a Second Language (ESL), and special
education programs. Students also study the sociocultural,
pedagogical, linguistic, and political issues underlying current
models of education for English speaking and non-English speaking children, as well as models for bilingual
and ESL instruction.
