Critical Issues in After-School Programming explores the expectations, goals, potential, and challenges of after-school care in the United States at the start of the 21st century. The monograph, which brings together four recently published studies, looks at four issues central to the future of after-school programs: their role in supporting literacy development and in fostering children’s physical well-being,
the challenge of system building, and the question of appropriate expectations.

The monograph was published by the Herr Research Center.
