Dr. Friedman collaborates with Early Head Start programs funded under the Department of Family Support Services to support teachers in their efforts to meet the needs of children with suspected or identified developmental delays, as well as their families. She uses a multisystem approach to promote the well-being of children and their families. Dr. Friedman has worked with children in a range of capacities for more than 20 years and has provided individual and group therapy to parents with young children, as well as other support services to encourage positive parent-child relationships and optimum development. She holds a doctoral degree in developmental psychology from the University of Chicago. In her research, she focused on early parent-child interaction and socio-emotional development. Dr. Friedman earned her master’s degree in social work from the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she concentrated on mental health practices from a strengths-based perspective.
