Description:

This workshop helps to deepen knowledge of the importance of math in the early years, exploring sequence for teaching and learning of number, sequence for learning math vocabulary, and materials and activities that help children (ages four to eight) develop mental math strategies. The workshop also includes production of a numeral track which participants can take with them for immediate use in their practice!

Marie Kielty, M.Ed.

Marie Kielty, M.Ed, is an educational consultant specializing in early mathematics. A retired public school teacher, Kielty taught preschool, kindergarten, the primary grades and was the math coordinator at her last school, a prekindergarten to third grade school. Kielty has provided professional development, consultation, and mentoring to teachers in child care centers and schools. She is one of the Kindergarten Interest Forum facilitators for the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
