Description:

This presentation will provide an overview of core eligibility criteria for public benefits, with a particular focus on families seeking assistance. The presentation will address cash benefit programs such as TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families) and Social Security; food benefits such as SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program); and medical benefits like Medicaid. This workshop is designed to provide basic knowledge on a number of programs including how to access the benefits (application), how to keep the benefits (reporting changes and renewals) and how to refer families. Information will be delivered through lecture and small group discussion exercises. The target audience includes any professional seeking to gain understanding of the complex public benefits system.
