This workshop teaches providers how to support Dads to support breastfeeding. Research has shown that fathers’ knowledge and support of breastfeeding increases initiation and duration rates. All the benefits of breastfeeding are enhanced when dads are supported to support breastfeeding, these include benefits for the baby, for the mother, and for the family in the realms of physiology, immunology, gastroenterology, health promotion, regulation, mental health, and economics. In addition, this becomes the perfect forum to discuss and educate families about postpartum mental health for both mother and father. Home Visitors, Early Childhood Specialists, Pediatric providers, Lactation Consultants, and anyone working with infants and families are encouraged to attend.
