Approved by the Illinois Early Intervention System, the Infant Toddler Developmental Assessment (IDA) is a tool that assesses the development of children from birth to age three in the context of their health and social/familial environments.  Professionals from all disciplines can use IDA with families in the service of understanding the global development of infants and toddlers.  The Infant Toddler Developmental Assessment originally published in 1995 was way ahead of its time in regards to its strong philosophical and theoretical base that supports and promotes contemporary best practices in early intervention developmental assessment. Recently published, the second edition, IDA-2, continues to provide a framework of procedures for collecting, reviewing and integrating data from multiple sources. During this workshop participants will be introduced to the six distinct phases of IDA-2 as well as the 8 developmental domains that are included in the Provence Profile.  Participants will be encouraged to reflect on and challenge their beliefs about early intervention assessment practices. Through a small group case study exercise, participants will have the opportunity to utilize the IDA-2 materials. Whether you are responsible for assessment or intervention service delivery, this workshop will enhance your practice.  Come and join the conversation.

Participants will:

  • Learn the IDA-2’s conceptual framework and integrated process
  • Describe the six phases of the IDA process
  • Discuss the eight developmental domains
  • Practice using the IDA materials
