I374 – Parent-Child Relationship Assessment
Intensive training will be offered in the assessment of parent child relationships along with the assessment of early development in infants and young children. Students will learn about the early identification of risk, screening for social/emotional/behavior problems and how to assess the parent/child relationship, including the parents’ and the child’s capacities for relatedness. All students will be trained in a range of screening and evaluation tools and techniques. Students will have the opportunity to practice relationship evaluation with parent child dyads as part of their experience in this course. Tools covered include but are not limited to The Working Model of the Child Interview, The Crowell Procedure, The Functional Emotional Assessment Scale (FEAS), The PICCOLO, and a variety of other tools.
