Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) continues to grow in importance as educators, administrators and caregivers strive to develop supportive programming and experiences that enhance young children’s learning experiences and outcomes.
Educators see how children’s struggles with emotions, relationships and behaviors can impact their learning ability, classroom experience and life outside of the classroom. Erikson’s curriculum is evidence-based and built on over 50 years of experience in child development. Graduates of this certificate program will learn skills and techniques that will enhance their abilities in working with young children who have experienced trauma and stress.
The age-range of focus for the SEL certificate is Pre-K through third grade. Please note that Erikson has degrees and certificate programs that focus on infants and toddlers if that is your area of interest. While infant-toddler practitioners are welcome in the SEL program, they should be aware that the certificate courses do not address classrooms younger than Pre-K.
Erikson Institute accepts applications on a rolling basis. This means we accept applications throughout the year for all academic terms and programs, and applications are evaluated as they are completed. However, applications received by our Priority Submission Dates for each term will receive primary consideration for scholarship awards.
