Earn your special education endorsement while completing the Online Master of Science in Early Childhood Education degree. This program will elevate your knowledge of special education to better support students with special needs and diverse learners in a variety of early childhood settings. Students will gain expertise in special education theory and practice that will enhance their ability to teach, advocate, and collaborate with parents and other educational professionals.
Teachers, administrators, other school professionals with an Illinois Professional Education License (PEL) can add the Learning Behavior Specialist 1 (LBS1) Endorsement and the Early Childhood Special Education Letter of Approval to their teaching license and work in the rewarding and high-demand area of inclusive early childhood education and early childhood special education. Erikson Institute offers three tracks of special education training:
- Licensed Teacher Track
This track is for Illinois licensed teachers, administrators, or other school professionals seeking to earn a master’s degree and add the special education endorsements for birth through 2nd grade; specifically, the LBS1 (kindergarten-2nd grade) and Early Childhood Special Education Letter of Approval (birth-preschool).
- Non-Teacher Track
This track is for early childhood professionals who do not require a PEL seeking to earn a master’s degree in early childhood education and special education.
- Endorsement-only Track
This track is for Illinois licensed teachers, administrators, or other school professionals seeking to earn their special education endorsements; specifically, the LBS1 (kindergarten-2nd grade) and Early Childhood Special Education Letter of Approval (birth-preschool).
Candidates must pass the LBS1 content test in order to add the LBS1 endorsement to their PEL.
