Master's in Social and Emotional Learning Online Program

30 credit hours

Back to Online MS in Early Childhood Education

Prepare to support young children’s social-emotional development and well-being in learning settings through innovative programs, curricula, and integrative approaches. You will develop the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver social and emotional learning (SEL) programming directly to children, build whole-child nurturing learning communities, and be an advocate for the principles of culturally and developmentally appropriate SEL practice. Graduates of this program will be well-positioned to become SEL leaders after three to five years of direct experience.

This focus area prepares you to seek the Illinois Gateways to Opportunity Early Care and Education Credential, Levels 2-5, through the Entitled Route. To earn the credential, you will need to complete the appropriate Gateways application and provide documentation of your academic and professional experiences. Requirements, timing and related costs may vary.

The age-range of focus for the SEL focus area is Pre-K through third grade. Please note that Erikson has on-campus programs that focus on infants and toddlers if that is your area of interest. While infant-toddler practitioners are welcome in the SEL program, they should be aware that the focus area courses do not address classrooms younger than Pre-K.

Key benefits:

  • Increase skills to meet growing needs in early learning settings.
  • Develop relevant, in-demand expertise.
