Golden Apple recognizes Bowman with the Golder Community Service Award

Barbara Bowman, the Irving B. Harris Professor of Child Development, was honored for her contributions to education during the 27th annual Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching on October 12.
She received the Stanley C. Golder Community Service Award, which the Golden Apple Foundation presents each year to an individual or individuals who have made significant contributions to education and have been influential in advancing Golden Apple’s guiding conviction that all children deserve excellent teachers.
Ten outstanding Chicago-area teachers, all in prekindergarten through 3rd grade, were also recognized at the awards ceremony.
The ceremony will be televised in the Chicago area on WTTW Channel 11 on Thursday, November 15 at 8 p.m., with a rebroadcast on Sunday, November 18 at 2 p.m.
The ceremony will also be shown during a World Premiere presentation on Sunday, October 28 at AMC River East in Chicago.
