Love and understanding are what children need, Epley says
Despite changes in the demographics of mothers—age, income, and education, for example—the needs of a child stay the same, Assistant Clinical Professor Pamela Epley tells the Daily Southtown.
In a Mother’s Day story, Dr. Epley says that all moms have the tools to be a good parent.
According to the article, “Children need to feel that the caregivers in their lives are their secure base, she said. That security is what gives them the trust they need to begin exploring their world, she added. Parenting, she said, ‘is really a constant study of your child — their strengths, needs, personality, and how you can be most responsive to them.'”
