Collins, who has served on Erikson’s board for 18 years, succeeds Kate Neisser, whose term as chair ended in June.
Collins is president of the business and financial advisory firm Cambium, LLC. She most recently served as vice chair of the board, during which time she led the search committee that recommended the appointment of Geoffrey A. Nagle as president and CEO of Erikson.
Collins’s long history with Erikson began as a child, when she would visit her father’s dental office down the hall from Erikson, then located in the Hyde Park Bank building. Her mother was also a longtime teacher in the Chicago Public Schools.
Neisser returns as trustee

“The past three years have been enormously challenging and gratifying,” says Neisser, who has served on Erikson’s board for nearly 20 years. “From trustees to faculty and administrators, I worked with exceptional people who are the very foundation of Erikson’s excellence and resilience.”
President Nagle recently reflected on Neisser’s service, saying, “During my first months at Erikson, Kate’s advice and insights have truly been invaluable. I’m glad she’s returning to the Erikson board for another term.”
He added, “Likewise, I look forward to working closely with Michelle — and all the trustees — in the coming years.”
