President Samuel J. Meisels was interviewed by the New York Times about New York schools using the E.R.B., or Educational Records Bureau, kindergarten assessment as part of its admissions process for their gifted and talented programs.

Meisels urged the schools to stop using the test, as it was created to identify cognitive delays, diagnose learning disabilities, and measure I.Q., not for admissions.

Additionally, some parents are putting their children through excessive test preparation, which invalidates the assessment results.
