The fellowship program seeks to contribute to advancing Asian Americans in psychology, multiculturalism, and social justice within psychology.
This year’s two leadership fellows — Thakar and Shu-wen Wang of Haverford College — will receive training and mentoring, participate in AAPA executive committee meetings, and complete a yearlong project on a topic related to social justice and multicultural psychology.
Before joining Erikson’s faculty this academic year, Thakar served as the director of a federally funded project to develop and implement training in Erikson’s Fussy Baby Network® approach for home visiting staff in Healthy Families Illinois programs.
She is also the parenting columnist for South Asian Parent magazine and has served as the membership chair for the American Psychological Association’s section focusing on the psychology of Asian Pacific American women.
