Deborah Harris

Part-time Faculty

Deborah Harris has worked for many years with infants, young children, adolescents, and adults experiencing trauma, substance abuse and mental health issues. She created an infant mental health continuum of services in New Mexico and took a lead role in creating, publishing, and distributing the first Strategic Plan for Infant Mental Health in New Mexico. Her efforts brought awareness of infant and early childhood mental health to a state level. Deborah is a member of the Zero to Three Graduate Academy.

Currently, Deborah provides training, reflective supervision and consultation for agencies and individual practitioners on a state, national and international level, with a specific focus on rural, frontier, and diverse communities.

Deborah will be co-teaching with Dr. Linda Gilkerson in the Graduate School in Child Development I501 Interprofessional Trauma-Focused Early Intervention which brings Social Work and Developmental Therapists together to learn about trauma informed practices in Early Intervention services, an area she has been focused on for many years.
