Maggie Brett

Program Director, Master of Social Work Program; Senior Instructor

Margaret Brett is the director of field instruction and career counseling.

Brett worked with children and families in a variety of settings, including schools, hospitals, and children’s advocacy centers prior to coming to Erikson. Her clinical work in agency settings and private practice has included work with struggling families, abused and neglected children, and chemically dependent and mentally ill parents and their children.

She previously served as the clinical director of the Columbus Hospital Child Protection Center and the site director of the South Suburban Chicago-La Rabida Children’s Advocacy Center, establishing the centers in the community and supervising staff and students. Most recently, her focus has been on strengthening preschool and birth to three programs by supporting their staff and families as an infant and early childhood mental health consultant.

Brett was a field placement supervisor for social work students from the University of Chicago, Smith College, and Erikson, and previously served as a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at Columbus Hospital.
