Early Childhood Director, DCFS

Pfeffer is the Director of the Erikson Institute DCFS Early Childhood Project, which seeks to support child welfare involved families with young children in equitably accessing early childhood services, to support effective collaboration between child welfare and early childhood systems and to advocate for additional resources and system changes needed to more effectively serve young children impacted by early adverse experiences. She has a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology and twenty-five years of experience with children and families impacted by the child welfare system in roles including child care worker, case manager, individual and family psychotherapist, assessor and clinical supervisor. She joined the Erikson Institute in 2006, where she discovered infant mental health theory and the essential role of reflective supervision in clinical and systems work. She is passionate about increasing access to responsive support for young children and families who need it most, and creating relationship based, family centered, equitable, trauma informed systems of service delivery.
