Position Yourself to Become a SEL Leader

Help create innovative programs, curricula and integrative approaches for young children.

Develop the knowledge and skills necessary to deliver social and emotional learning (SEL) programming, build whole-child nurturing learning communities, and be an advocate for the principles of culturally and developmentally appropriate SEL practice.

With three to five years of direct experience, graduates are positioned to be SEL leaders in Pre-K through 3rd grade.

Complete an inquiry project implementing an SEL program or a self-designed combination of strategies for a short-term period of 6 to 8 weeks.

Foundation of Social and Emotional Learning 1: Programs and Approaches
This course introduces students to the concept and field of social and emotional learning (SEL) in general and also specializes in the early childhood periods of PreK-3.
Social and Emotional Learning Foundations 2: Family, Community, and Policy
This course explores the role of family and community engagement (FCE) in social and emotional learning (SEL).

Although social and emotional learning (SEL) and behavior management are not the same thing, the two domains overlap in both perception and reality.
