Family Focus honors Bowman with lifetime achievement award

Barbara Bowman, the Irving B. Harris Professor of Child Development, will receive the Bernice Weissbourd Award for Family Support at Family Focus’s 35th anniversary gala on Tuesday, May 14.

The lifetime achievement award, honoring a person or organization that has made a lasting impact in the field of early childhood education, will be presented during an evening that includes a keynote speech by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.

Family Focus was founded in 1976 by Bernice Weissbourd, a leading scholar and educator in child development, to promote the well-being of children from birth by supporting and strengthening their families in and with their communities. Weissbourd is an Erikson life trustee.
