Master of Science in Early Childhood Education – Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL)

Prepare to become a licensed teacher of children from birth to second grade and accelerate your career by earning your master’s degree in early childhood education at Erikson.

In this program, which leads to initial teacher licensure (Illinois Professional Educator License), you will not only gain the specific content knowledge needed to be an effective teacher of young children, but also how children age 8 and younger grow and learn. You will be challenged to consider developmentally appropriate teaching methods, as well as how families, communities, and culture affect children’s development and success.

You will complete a two-semester student teaching experience and participate in small-group integrative seminars, where you will talk with peers and faculty about your classroom teaching experience and get real-time feedback and advice.

Erikson offers several scholarships. If you apply for admission to the 2-year program by July 15 (for an August 15 decision), you may be eligible for a $15,000 scholarship to be used over the course of the program. Eligible applicants who are admitted to the 3-year program may receive a $12,000 scholarship.

Next application deadline: July 15 for August start.
